Tarabotto, le chef des mineurs, a accueilli chez lui, il y a quelques années, une jeune femme pauvre qu’il a fait passer pour sa nièce. En réalité, il s’agit d’Isabella, épouse du Duc. A la suite d’une intrigue ourdie par Ormondo et Batone, elle a été déclarée morte. Lorsque, quelques années plus tard, le Duc se rend aux mines, en compagnie d’Ormondo et Batone, intrigues et conspirations reprennent, seulement, cette fois-ci, avec la perspective d’un dénouement heureux.

Tarabotto, der Anführer der Bergleute, hat vor Jahren ein armes Mädchen zu sich ge-nommen, das er als seine Nichte ausgibt, das jedoch in Wirklichkeit Isabella, die Gattin des Herzogs ist. Sie gilt nach einer Intrige Ormondos und Batones als tot. Als der Herzog einige Jahre später mit Ormondo und Batone das Bergwerk besuchen, setzen die hinterhältigen Machenschaften wieder ein. Es ist aber das Gute, verkörpert von Isabella, das den Sieg davonträgt.

Tarabotto, the leader of the miners, took a young women into his shelter some years ago and now has her pass as his niece. She is in reality, however, Isabella, the Duke’s wife. She has been held for deceased thanks to plot by Ormondo and Batone. Years later, when the Duke, Ormondo and Batone come to the mines, the intrigues and conspiracies begin anew, only this time to be happily resolved.
