Gwyneth Jones, Leonie Rysanek, Anne Evans, Jeffrey Tate, and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande: all of the actors who participated in the making of Elektra at the Grand Théâtre in Geneva in 1990 remember this dream recording very well.
Following the disc featuring Pelléas (1969) with Eric Tappy, Gérard Souzay, Jean-Marie Auberson and the OSR released last year (CD 50-2415/16), Claves is pleased to continue its lyric adventure by bringing this extraordinary performance (which is said to have had the longest standing ovation in the history of the establishment) back to life on compact disc with the original recording made by Radio Suisse Romande. The double CD is accompanied by extensive documentation taken from the archives and with an introduction by Alain Perroux, who passionately remembers this event.
